Our Core Beliefs & Doctrinal Statement
At New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, we stand firmly on the Word of God and hold to these fundamental biblical truths:
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, our final authority for faith and practice. The Scriptures are God-breathed and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are one God, equal in power, glory, and majesty, yet distinct in their roles within the Godhead (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead on the third day, and ascended to heaven. He is the only way to salvation (John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates those who believe, and indwells, guides, and empowers believers for Christian living and service. He produces spiritual fruit in the lives of believers (John 16:8; Galatians 5:22-23).
We believe all people are created in the image of God but are sinners by nature and by choice. All have sinned and fall short of God's glory. Sin separates us from God and leads to spiritual death (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23).
We believe salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. It is a free gift from God, not earned by works. Those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ are born again and receive eternal life (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:16).
We believe in believer's baptism by immersion as an outward expression of an inward faith. We practice communion (the Lord's Supper) as a remembrance of Christ's sacrifice on the cross (Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all true believers. The local church exists to worship God, build up believers, and reach the lost with the Gospel. Every believer is called to be an active member of a local church (1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Hebrews 10:25).
We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ to earth. He will judge the living and the dead. Believers will spend eternity with God in heaven, while those who reject Christ will face eternal separation from God (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15).
To make disciples who make disciples, transforming lives and communities through the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
To be a thriving, Spirit-filled church that glorifies God, builds up believers, and reaches the lost with the love of Christ.
Biblical truth, authentic worship, genuine fellowship, compassionate service, and bold evangelism.
